What’s on summer guide 2024

The Whole Family Wellbeing have collated a list of free or low-cost family activities which are running in Edinburgh over the Summer holidays.

This information can be viewed and will be kept up to date on the alongside a whole range of supports which are available for families throughout the year.

Parent Employability Support


Support with Finances

There is lots of financial advice in the leaflet attached about how to access food, clothing financial advice etc. There is also a new link on CEC website too and if families need urgent help the Advice Shop run a drop in service

Support With Travel

Families can now apply for free bus travel for children and young people. If you need help please drop into your local library who always have staff there trained to support this process.

Support with Period Poverty

These products are available in schools.  They are also available to pick up, no questions asked, in Libraries and Community Centres across the city. Re usable pants, pads and cups are also available in Libraries.

Support with School Holidays

Support with Food At ²è¹Ý¶ù

In addition to referrals to foodbanks, if a family needs urgent help there is the Shrub Coop where people can drop in anytime 11-6pm from Tuesday to Saturday –

Information and Support for parents of neurodivergent children


We are delighted to announce the launch of the new for Parents, Carers and family members.

This much anticipated resource provides information about children’s rights and introduces the United Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC). The UNCRC is the internationally mandated children’s rights treaty which sets out the rights that all children and young people should expect and what they need to grow up happy, healthy and safe. It outlines the central role played by parents and families and also recognises that they need protection and assistance to support the rights and wellbeing of their children.

The booklet was created by the UNCRC Parents Network, made up of parenting organisations and Scottish Government policy officials, who have been meeting for over a year to look at how best to inform parents, carers and family members about the rights of their children. It conveys broad universal messaging about children’s rights and has adopted a warm and reassuring tone.
